BALLYHEIGUE NOTES –29th September 2015
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Saturday night’s GAA
Lotto: 9-13-18-19. The Jackpot of €1,750 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot
will be €1,800. The two €50 winners were: Sean Kenny, Tiduff and Colette
Casey, The Village. The €25 winner was: Ned Flahive, Glenderry.
CO. HURLING L. DIV.3 FINAL: The Ballyheigue Intermediate Hurlers had a big
win over Austin Stacks in the Co. Hurling league Div-3 final at Kilmoyley
on Saturday. The game was over as a contest at the break with the score
standing at Ballyheigue 3-18 and Austin Stacks 0-1. The Ballyheigue
scorers in the first half were Mark O’Regan 0-5, Tommy O’Connor 0-2, Paudie
O’Carroll 1-3, Garry Galway 0-2, Richard O’Mahony 2-2, and Mike Slattery
0-4. At the start of the second half Ballyheigue used up all their subs
and in fairness to Stacks they never gave up and scored four good points.
Ballyheigue upped the tempo again and further scores from Richard O’Mahony,
Mike Slattery, Garry Galway, Mark O’Regan, Declan Quill and they ran out
easy winners. Full time score Ballyheigue 4-23 and Austin Stacks 0-5. The
trophy was presented by Ger McCarthy, Co. Hurling Officer to John Healy the
Ballyheigue Captain. Team and scorers: John Healy (capt), Owen Lucid, Mike

CO. SENIOR HURLING FINAL: Well done to Kilmoyley who defeated St. Brendans
in the Garvey’s Senior Hurling Championship final at Abbeydorney on
Sunday. Score Kilmoyley 3-15, St. Brendans 1-13.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 21st September
in the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 3-8-18-20. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Diarmuid Slattery. The €25 winners were
Melanie Higgins, C/o Sean, Felim O’Sullivan, C/o Kitty, and Declan Quille,
C/o Mike. Next week’s Jackpot €2,400.
BALLYHEIGUE DRAMA GROUP: Will perform ‘Sive’ by John B. Keane in the
Community Centre on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October, and Saturday 24th
October. This was John B’s first and finest play and rehearsals are well
underway. A new departure for Ballyheigue and promises to be a night not
to be missed. Emerging talent is eye-opening. Does Hollywood beckon???
CHOIR WORKSHOP WITH FR. LIAM LAWTON: Choir Workshop will be held on Monday
October 19th at 8.00pm in Church of the Resurrection, Park Road (between
Daly’s roundabout and Tesco roundabout), Killarney. This workshop is open
to all choirs, folk groups, school choirs and musicians. Admission €10 p/p

HISTORY TALK: ‘New Insights into Skellig Michael’ lecture by Maggie
Prendiville, archaeologist about Skellig Michael, Kerry’s UNESCO World
Heritage Sight takes place in Killarney Library on Tuesday 6th October at

SAFE/TALK SUICIDE AWARENESS TRAINING WORKSHOP: Takes place Wednesday 7th
October at 6.00pm at Kerryhead/Ballyheigue Family Resource Centre. It is
free and open to the public; the training prepares you to identify persons
with thoughts of suicide and help connect them with the correct suicide
