Reel-LIFE SCIENCE 2015: Congratulations to Causeway Comprehensive School,
Co. Kerry and to their students on winning this year’s Cúram (Science &
Centre for Research in Medical Devices) sponsored prize of €1,000. Two of
their 5th Year students – Solas O’Halloran, Ballyheigue and Matt Tyrkill,
Lixnaw won first prize with their video entitled “The Mystery of Light”.
Canadian Astronaut, Cmdr. Chris Hadfield described their video as being
“cool, clearly explained and dramatically filmed”. Their science teacher is
Bridget Buckley
BALLYHEIGUE BEARD FEST: This will take place on Saturday 28th Nov. in
Kirby's Bar. Please support us in raising funds for the Kerry Cork Health
Link Bus and 'The Road to Recovery Fund'. We have just over a week to go.

which you can find on our Facebook page, Ballyheigue Beard Fest. On the
night there will also be a monster raffle and some signed sports goods to
auction. I would like to sincerely thank everyone for the support you have
given to the Beard Fest since 2009. Outside of this year we have raised
just under €43000 euro. It is a credit to everyone who has helped out and
contributed in any way.
CHRISTMAS DANCE: Ballyheigue Drama Group’s Annual Christmas Concert & Dance
will take place on Saturday 12th December in O’Regan’s Lounge.
This year will feature a new addition to our ‘Start the Christmas Festival’
with the lighting of the Christmas Tree at 5 o’clock outside O’Regan’s
Bar. This will feature Carol Singers from local schools who have been busy
rehearsing over the last couple of weeks. Also the switching on of the
Christmas Lights will be carried out by a very special guest. Sweets and
light refreshments served to all - sponsored by Gearoid O’Regan and Staff.
Doors will open at 9.00pm in the Lounge for a night of fun, dance and
comedy which will feature local singers and dancers. The Drama Group will
also feature their usual Christmas Comedy Sketch and Santa and his Helpers
will distribute Spot prizes on the night, and hot punch with traditional
Christmas cake and savouries on arrival. Music for dancing will be
provided by Eddie Lee’s Band. Admission is only €5 with all profits going
to the Palliative Care Unit, Tralee. A great night as usual to kick-start
the Christmas festivities.
BADMINTON – Well done to our juveniles taking part in their first ever
tournament in Killarney on Saturday last. They all played very well and
came away with two gold’s and a silver. Tadhg Griffin won under-13 doubles
and Gearoid Quilter was runner up;
and Kyle Reidy won the under-15 doubles. Our Club nights are Monday and
Thursday nights from 8.30 in the Community Centre, Ballyheigue. New members
welcome.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday night’s GAA
Lotto: 10-21-22-27. The Jackpot of €2,100 was not won. Next week’s
Jackpot will be €2,150. The two €50 winners were; Liz Duffy, Ladies Well,
C/o Tadhg; and Mike Drury, Marian Park, Ballyheigue. The €25 winner was
Mairead O’Carroll, Kerryhead.
MINORS: The Ballyheigue minor hurlers received a walk-over from South Kerry
on Sunday last in a Co. League back game.
KERRY HURLING MANAGEMENT: Ciaran Carey, Limerick is the new Kerry Hurling
Manager. His selectors will be Michael Conway, Lixnaw and James McCarthy,
Kilmoyley. Damien Ryall, Abbeydorney will continue as physical trainer.

BALLYHEIGUE RACES: The annual Ballyheigue Races will be held on the Beach
on Sunday 27th December. First race 1.00pm. Anyone who wishes to nominate
a horse can contact any member of the committee.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 9th November in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club: 13-14-25-29. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Alice Reidy, C/o John B. The €25 winners were
Robyn Madden, C/o Christina; Mary Quille, C/o Mike and Eileen Keane, C/o
Christina.

KERRY GENERAL HOSPITAL: A Staff Memorial Service will take place in Kerry
General Hospital at 7.00pm Thursday 26th November in the Hospital Chapel.
This service is dedicated to all deceased members of staff of St.
