BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – Michael Burkett

“PATTERN DAY” 2015: As Pattern Day is fast approaching there will be a
meeting of Our Lady’s Well and Grotto Committee this Thursday 27th August
at 8.15pm in the Grotto Car Park to ensure that all goes well on September 8
th. We urgently appeal for more stewards to help out. Please hand in your
name to the Presbytery or to any of the Grotto Committee. The success of
this Historical Day is due to the dedicated volunteers down through the
years. Please help out.

KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION: The A.G.M. for the Ballyheigue Branch of Kerry
Hospice Foundation will be held in the Community Centre on this Wednesday,
26th August at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome.

BALLYHEIGUE PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: Bookings are still being taken for
our Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes 2nd – 7th October. Sol Travel

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Saturday night’s GAA
Lotto: 6-11-19-20. The Jackpot of €1,500 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot
will be €1,550. The two €50 winners were: Brendan O’Carroll, Tiduff, C/o
Kieran and Alan O’Halloran, Bouleenshere. The €25 winner was Brian
Griffin, Cliff Road.

UNDER 14: The Ballyheigue U-14 hurlers defeated Kilmoyley in the North
Kerry Championship on Tuesday evening at Kilmoyley. Final score
Ballyheigue 4-7 and Kilmoyley 2-6. Team: Jamie Lee, Ciaran Casey, Jack
Stack, Aidan Reidy, Darren Stack, Tomas Gaynor, Jimmy O’Halloran, Ricky
Hussey, Rory Duggan, Conor O’Sullivan, Colin Walsh, Graham Slattery, Seamie
O’Fuarain, Eric Walsh, Daniel O’Loughlin, David O’Mahony, Brian Styles.

UNDER 16: The U-16 hurlers were defeated by Ballyduff in the North Kerry
Championship on Thursday evening.

CO. UNDER-12 CHAMPIONS: The Ballyheigue U-12 hurlers went through Phase 2
of the Co. League undefeated and were crowned County Champions on Friday
evening when they defeated a strong Ballyduff team in their final game.
This was a tremendous display of skilful hurling by this young team. The
team mentors were: Brendan O’Sullivan, and Eamon O’Sullivan. Full time
score Ballyheigue 3-5 and Ballyduff 1-3. The victorious team were: Daniel
O’Loughlin, Aidan Reidy, Seamie O’Furain, David O’Sullivan, Jordan Goggin,
Tomas Gaynor, Dara Kearney, Eric Walsh, David O’Mahony, Muiris Harty,
Felim O’Sullivan, Denis Lynch, Dylan Casey, Luke Bowler. The team were
treated to refreshments on their arrival home. Many thanks to the White
Sands Hotel.

FIXTURE: Co. Minor Championship Q-final Ballyheigue/Parnells v South Kerry
Sunday at Kilgarvan. Check re starting time.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 17th August in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 1-11-13-28. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Sarah Quill, C/o Mike. The €25 winners were:
Joe Slattery, C/o Diarmuid, Claire Reidy, C/o John B. and Mike Quille.
Next week’s Jackpot €2,150.
