BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – Michael Burkett - 18th May 2015

COMMUNITY GAMES 2015: Sunday saw a very successful day for our local games
which were held in The Sportsfield. We were very lucky that the weather
held out and all participants were very happy. It was a great day of Sport
and fun. Thanks to all the parents who came along to support. We look
forward to our kids participating in the county games in June. Thank you to
all the helpers involved in the sports day running off so smoothly. Thanks
Con, Dan, Ash and all the committee.

TOBAR NA SÚL GLENDAHALON: The annual Mass at the Well will take place on
Friday 29th May at 8.30pm. Come and be with us at this tradition laden Holy
Place.

BAPTIZED IN 2014: Babies baptized in our Parish in 2014 are being invited
to a special Mass on Sunday June 21st at 9.30am for God’s blessing.

MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL: On Sunday June 7th Ardfert village will hold a Medieval
Festival to celebrate the Feast of St Brendan. Residents will awake to see
part of the village green transformed into a medieval village thanks to the
members of Waterford Viking Historical Re-enactment Society.

In the afternoon there will be the Parish Pride Championship. Neighbouring
parishes will participate in challenges such as jousting, tug of war, pie
eating, and log throwing.

Live music will be performed during the festival; finally there will be a
concert in Ardfert Cathedral that evening at 7.30pm.

LIFE-PACK GROUP: Ballyheigue Life pack Group is in urgent need of funding
to enable them maintain the 8 defibrillators located at various points
throughout the parish. As of now one defibrillator is not working and is
beyond repair. The cost to replace it is approx. €1,350 and we currently
don’t have the funds to do so. We have decided to hold a door to door
collection and people from your area will be calling sometime during the
month of May. We anticipate that a donation of €10 per household would be
enough to cover all costs and enable us to keep all 8 defibrillators in
perfect working order. Thank you for your support.
