life and light in our world it is proposed to celebrate a Mass at Dawn to

DAFFODIL DAY MARCH 27TH: Coffee morning at Kerryhead/Ballyheigue Family
Resource Centre from 10am - 2pm on Friday 27th March. Please support our
sale of official Daffodil Day goods. Raffle tickets on sale. Fantastic spot
prizes. Enjoy complimentary tea, coffee and home baked treats. All ages
welcome.
COMMUNITY GAMES 2015: Just a few weeks into the beginning of our sports and
events we are very happy to report all our success to date. Lisa Kearney
received 4th place in U-16 Art. We had other participants in Art and Indoor
Soccer who did really well and had a great day out. Congratulations to our
U-10 draughts team who received Silver medals. Well done David O’Grady,
Maggie Stack, Luke O’Mahony, Riain Donnelly, Josh Achumona, Lily Stack and
Jack O’Sullivan. Our U-12 and U-14 draughts teams received 14 Gold Medals
between them. They will go on to represent Kerry in the Munsters in July.
Watch this space on further developments. We thank Terence Dineen for
giving of his time to train our teams.
BADMINTON: A big well done this week to Kathleen Gilbride and Siobhan
Colbert on capturing the Division 4 County Ladies Doubles title in
Killarney last weekend. They came out on top after a hard fought encounter,
winning the third set 21 – 19. Also well done to John McDonnell and Paula
O’Sullivan on reaching the finals of their respective Plate competitions.
LADIES FOOTBALL: Causeway Ladies Football Team travelled to Killarney
last Sunday morning for their Div. 3 game against local team Spa. This is a
13 a side competition therefore player’s fitness will be tested.
Causeway started very well with points from Rhiannon Sheehy and Edel
Slattery. Causeway’s backs including Captain Sinead Costelloe, Rebecca
O’Caroll, Grace Kearney and Jackie O’Carroll held Spa to 1-3 in the first
half. Great play from mid-fielders Elaine Ryall and Ciara Anderson
supplying great balls to forwards Patrice Diggins and Edel Slattery to
find the Spa net. Half-time score Causeway 2-2, Spa 1-3. Causeway started
brightly with goals from Sarah Leahy and Patrice Diggins, where Sarah
Murphy and Michelle O’Regan were winning their battles against their
opponents. Great points from Elaine Ryall and Centre forward Patrice
Diggins finished the scoring for Causeway. Michelle O’Carroll in the
Causeway goals pulled off two great saves to leave the final score line
Causeway 4-4, Spa 3-5. Causeway’s next opponents are Abbeydorney. Team:
Michelle O’Carroll, Sinead Costelloe (Capt.) Rebecca O’Carroll, Grace
Kearney, Jackie O’Carroll, Sarah Murphy, Elaine Ryall, Edel Slattery,
Sarah Leahy, Ciara Anderson, Patrice Diggins, Michelle O’Regan, Rhiannon
Sheehy, Grainne Galway, Eimear O’Mahony, Laura Galway, Judy Diggins, Rachel
Reidy, Laura Reidy, Rachel Stack. Trainer Mike Enright was delighted
with the team’s performance.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Saturday night’s GAA
Lotto: 10-18-25-28. The Jackpot of €5,350 was not won. Next week’s
Jackpot will be €5,400. The two €50winners were: Brendan Dune, Marian Park
and Sean Guerin, C/o Pat Joe. The €25 winner was Aidan Keane, Ole Mill,
Ballyheigue.
KERRY MINOR: The Kerry Minor hurlers had their second win in the Leinster
League when they had a big victory over Meath in Trim on Saturday last.
Score: Kerry 7-15 and Meath 0-7. The Ballyheigue Club were represented on
the team by Michael Leane and Mark Mulvihill. They will play Offaly next
Saturday.
KERRY SENIOR: The Kerry Senior hurlers had a narrow one point victory over
Carlow on Sunday in Dr. Cullen Park. Final score – Kerry 1-24 and Carlow
3-17. The Ballyheigue Club were represented on the team by Philip Lucid.
DEATH: The death took place during the week of Kathleen Hanlon (née Roche)
Dreenagh. Removal was on Thursday evening from Hartnett’s Funeral Home to
St. Mary’s Church. Burial was on Friday in St. James Old Cemetery,
Ballyheigue. Sympathy is extended to her family, relatives and friends.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 9th March in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 8-11-15-18. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Rickey Keane, C/o Tom Joe. The €25 winners
were Veronica O’Riordan, C/o Kitty; Eileen Keane, C/o Tom Joe and Tony
Kearney, C/o Kitty. Next week’s Jackpot €1,000.
