BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 9.12.14

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Next Sunday 14th December at 6pm Santa arrives in
Ballyheigue at the sound of Christmas Carols at Barr Na Sraid entrance, and
with the turning on of Christmas lights. At 6.30pm the Doors open for the
Bazaar at the Community Centre. All ages welcome please come along to
support this festive community event. Door prize, great hamper raffle
draws; face painting/treats for children. Entry: €3 Adults/children free.
Organised by Kerryhead/Ballyheigue Family Resource Centre and Bouleenshere
National School.

GAA AGM: The Ballyheigue GAA AGM will be held on Saturday 20th December in
the Club room at 7.00pm. All nominations and motions forms should be
returned to the Secretary on or before the 13th December 2014.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Saturday night’s GAA
Lotto: 4-5-21-22. The Jackpot of €4,700 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot
will be €4,750. The two €50 winners were: John O’Regan, The Village, and
Pat Guerin, C/o Pat Joe. The €25 winner was Sinead Thornton, Ballyronan.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 1st December in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Lotto: 10-15-16-24. The Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was David & Aodhan, C/o Kitty. The €25 winners
were: Jerry O’Halloran, C/o Pat Joe; Richard Laide, C/o Pat Joe; and
Brendan Carroll, C/o Pat Joe. Next week’s Jackpot €2,650.

BALLYHEIGUE STRAND RACE COMMITTEE: At the recent 2014 AGM of Ballyheigue
Strand Race Committee the following officers were elected: President: Jimmy
Brown. Vice-Presidents: Sean O’Halloran, P.V.O’Connel and Brendan
O’Carroll. Chairman: Michael Leane. Vice-Chairman: John Brassil.
Secretary: Sean Keane. Assistant-Secretary: Liam O’Mahony. Treasurers: Ann
Leane-Kissane and Timothy Kenny. Receiver of Entries: Brendan Dunne. P.R.O:
Tom Lawlor. Clerks of the Course: Mike O’Halloran and John P.Corridan.
Starters: Christy O’Mahony and Sylvie Carroll. Judges: Brendan O’Carroll,
Thomas Roche and Michael Hehir. Safety Officer: John Brassil.

JUNIOR COMMITTEE: Clerks of the Course: Oliver O’Halloran, Calum Irvine,
Noel Brassil, David Kissane and Michael Leane Jnr. Secretaries: Clara
Leane, Kirby Kissing, Sarah O’Halloran and Sinead O’Mahony.

DECEMBER 2014 RACE MEETING: This year’s Horse and Pony Racing will take
place on Sunday 28th December with the first race at 12.30 pm. There is a
seven race card which should provide some quality racing and a great day’s
entertainment.

BALLYHEIGUE FCL: Result - Ballyheigue FC 4 and Kenmare 2. The Ballyheigue
team trailed by 2 – Nil, at half-time to a Kenmare team not beaten in the
league so far, but credit to Ballyheigue who kept their heads, and two
goals from Jordan Brick put us level. Robert Craske was introduced for
Frankie Flaherty and he turned the game with two goals to keep Ballyheigue
FC top of the table.

ST. VINCENT DePAUL: The National Collection for St. Vincent De Paul takes
place at all Masses next weekend, 13/14th December.

MEN’S RETREAT: The Annual Ballyheigue Men’s Retreat takes place in Ardfert
Retreat Centre this Wednesday evening 10th December starting at 7.30pm.
Why not give it a go and take time for yourself.

DUGGAN BENEVOLENT FUND: The Ballyheigue Fire Fund Committee would like on
behalf of the Duggan Family, to thank the people of Ballyheigue and beyond
for their extraordinary kindness, generosity and support. We also thank
those who collected the Parish.

If the collectors missed anyone who wishes to contribute, please drop an
envelope to Ballyheigue Post Office.

ANNUAL SENIOR CITIZENS MASS: In the Community Centre this Wednesday at 12
noon for all our elderly. We are always indebted to our elderly.

BALLYHEIGUE DRAMA GROUP: Would like to thank you for your support in
promoting their Concert on Saturday 6th December. If at some time in the
future you require their help just contact them they would be happy to help
you with your ideas.
